In honor of Purim Katan (Minor Purim), which falls on the 14th of Adar 1 when there is a Jewish leap year, all students are asked to come to school in FUNNY SOCKS! This year Purim Katan falls on Friday, February 18, 2011. Students can wear funny socks or funny tights. Girls in Grades 5 - 8 can wear funny knee hi's or funny tights or tights with funny short socks on top! How funny... the combinations seem endless!!

Our varsity 8th Grade Basketball Team, The Hebrew Academy Jaguars, will be challenging Reuben Gittelman Hebrew Day School in its first game tomorrow, Thursday evening, February 10, 2011, at 7:15 pm at The Hebrew Academy Gym.

We wish the Jaguars lots of mazel and victory! All are encouraged to come out and show their support.

On Monday, February 14, 2011, on 7 pm The Hebrew Academy Jaguars will play against ASHAR at ASHAR 70 Highview Avenue, Monsey.

Play ball!

Our music program is trilling along beautifully! The students are excitedly learning music theory from the very skilled Mrs. Barbara Thompson. Mrs. Thompson is a certified music teacher with more than 25 years of experience. Until now,in addition to learning how to read music, Mrs. Thompson has been using a keyboard to help in her instruction.

To vastly enhance our music program we will be opening an additional Digital Keyboard Lab which will have 12 Yamaha keyboards plus one for the music teacher. This will enable each student to have their own keyboard.

Each keyboard, together with bench, stand and headphones costs $318. We would appreciate your help in making this dream come true and The Hebrew Academy welcomes sponsors to participate in this exciting new venture. This is the only school that we know of that affords students such a fantastic learning opportunity.

To be a sponsor for a keyboard/s please contact Rabbi Kotlarsky at (845)634-0951 ext 102 or Mrs. Perline at (845)634-0951 ext. 109.

Note: The Yamaha keyboards are of fairly high quality. Should you wish to order one for your child's personal use at home please contact us and we will furnish you with purchasing details.
