Dear Parents,

Please join our PTA meeting on Tuesday, January 10th at 7:30pm at The Hebrew Academy.

We welcome all parents who would like to join us in planning some upcoming fun and exciting projects this school year.  We are hoping for some really great ideas you can share.  In this upcoming meeting we will be discussing Rosh Chodesh treats for the kids, school-wide family dinner, etc.

Dear Parents,

It’s hard to believe that Kislev has already arrived!  Chanukah is rapidly approaching!!!

It is time to show our appreciation for all of the hard work and dedication our children’s teachers show our children each and every day of the school-year. As in years past, we are collecting $18 per child to provide each teacher with a gift of Chanukah Gelt.

Please send in the attached form and your check made out to The Hebrew Academy by Monday,

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all the Hebrew Academy families who ordered and sold coupon books for our KidsStuff Coupon Book fundraiser. With your help we have raised over $350 dollars! These funds are already being used to purchase Rosh Chodesh Kislev and Chanukah treats for our students!

More funding is ALWAYS needed. Any families who wish to donate money towards Rosh Chodesh Kislev and Chanukah treats in honor of their child's Kislev birthday are welcome to do so. Please contact Dr. Debbie Shatkin at (845) 362-6938 for details.

Early Childhood Center News

This Wednesday morning the parents of our Early Childhood Center students enjoyed a "Getting to Know You" breakfast sponsored by the PTA. We hope that the morning you spent together will forge new friendships (and carpool opportunities!) for the future.

REMINDER

School photo orders are being submitted this weekend. Any parent who still wants to order photos or photo gifts may email Dr. Shatkin with last minute orders at any time BEFORE Monday morning 11/8. 100% of the proceeds of your photo orders are being used for PTA activities.

Dear Parents,

The Hebrew Academy PTA is please to announce that the School Lunch Program will resume after the Chagim,
on Monday October 4th 2010.

Lunches will be served Monday through Thursday. Dairy meals are served on Mondays and Thursdays; Meat meals are served on Tuesdays; Bagels with cream cheese and/or tuna fish are served every Wednesday. All meals include beverages (milk or juice) and salads or vegetable side dishes. Meals are Cholov Yisroel, Pas Yisroel, Lubavitch Shchita. All menu items are peanut and tree nut free.

The 8th-grade-run Friday Pizza Day will again be resumed separately from the lunch program.

Any parent wishing to enroll their child(ren) in the lunch program must submit enrollment forms to the school office no later than Tuesday, September 21st in order to secure meals for their child(ren). All payments for the trial should be sent in to the school office in an envelope marked "School Lunch."

Two payment options will be offered as follows:

  • Full-Year commitment: from October 4th through June 23rd, at a cost of $400 per child.
  • Half-Year commitment: from October 4th through February 10th AND February 14th through June 23rd, in 2 payments of $200 per child.

Menus will be sent home with all children enrolled in the lunch program. Please be advised that the menu may be subject to minor changes at the discretion of the caterer.

PLEASE NOTE: The free/subsidized government lunch program is still being processed. We hope to have it in place in November depending on how quickly the State of New York processes our acceptance. For those parents that qualify for the government subsidy the portion of your payment that is being subsidized will be refunded to you when the school is accepted.

The school lunch trial was a tremendous success! We hope the children enjoyed their hot lunches. Please take the time to review the lunch questionnaire that was sent home yesterday with your child/ren. Your input will help us to plan a menu for the month of February when the lunch program resumes after winter break. Parent volunteers are needed to serve lunch Monday through Thursday from 11:20 AM - 12:45 PM. Please contact the office at 845-634-0951 to schedule a day next month to assist with the lunch program. Once a week...once a month....any help you can offer makes a tremendous difference!
