Third of Tammuz

Written by
Today, Tuesday, July 5th, marks seventeen years since the passing of the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory. We've posted lots of information on our website http://www.chabad.org/142232 to help you learn more about the Rebbe's devotion to G-d, discover how deeply he cared for each human being, and to glean insight into his teachings. The Rebbe would frequently insist that even the loftiest of thoughts must be translated into actual deed. Please join us on this special day in learning something additional, reciting an additional prayer, and giving some extra charity. Let us also try and apply some of the Rebbe's care and selfless dedication to our own interaction with family, friends and total strangers. There can be no more fitting tribute to the Rebbe than millions of good deeds, mitzvot, performed on his day. May G-d help us that in the merit of our collective acts of…

Special Shavuot message to YOU – the CHILDREN! Shavuot is the Festival of the Giving of the Torah. When Hashem gave the Torah to the Jewish people, the Jewish children were the guarantors! Hashem knew that He could count on the Jewish boys and girls to make sure the Jewish people would love the Torah, learn it, and keep its holy Mitzvot. Every year, on the same date of the giving of the Torah, we celebrate this special day, by going to Shul and hearing the Aseret Hadibrot - Ten Commandments. Remember! YOU are the guarantors of the Torah! So make sure to be there! (And bring your friends along, too!) On Wednesday June 8, 2011 make sure to go to your local Shul and hear the Aseret Hadibrot. To be eligible for a Shavuot treat, hear the Aseret Hadibrot in Shul, have this note signed, and return it to…

Terra Nova Standardized Tests

Written by
Dear Parents: Please be advised that beginning on Tuesday, May 31st , we will be administering CTBS Terra Nova standardized tests in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies for the first through eighth grades. These tests will be conducted over a 5-day period. Please remind your child that there is nothing to be worried about. Ample time will be given to complete the work, and the grades on the report cards will not be affected by the scores on the tests. On the other hand, it is very important that we get an accurate idea of their skills and knowledge. Please make sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and has breakfast in the morning before he/she comes to school. Thank you for your cooperation.

2nd Annual Science Fair in Review!

Written by
On Tuesday, May 17th, The Hebrew Academy conducted its second annual Science Fair. The students had a wonderful opportunity to explore the fascinating world of scientific investigation as well as enhance their research, writing, thinking, listening and speaking skills. Each student in grades 3 through 8 was responsible for writing a research report, creating a tri-board display and making a presentation to a panel of judges about their scientific findings. The students in grades Kindergarten through 2nd made a classroom project with their teacher. All of the students worked diligently on their projects, the results of which were amazing; and the enthusiasm with which the students made their presentations was exhilarating. We were very fortunate to have three experienced people be the judges for this event – Mr. Mayer Perline (marketing and advertising professional), Mrs. Bryant (nurse) and Miss Moseson (science teacher at Monsey Beis Chaya Mushka). All three judges…
